Tomoko Iwamoto – Violinist
Sunday July 13th, 2025 - Nordic Hall

Born in Osaka, Japan, Tomoko started playing the violin at age 6. She was a scholarship student at Berklee College of Music. While primarily a “jazzy” violinist, Tomoko plays in many styles from classical to rock, pop to jazz to world music, demonstrating a great sense of improvisation. She leads a gypsy jazz quartet “440” featuring beautiful harmony by violin and clarinet. In recent years, Tomoko has appeared as a guest with Women In World Jazz, and performs with our own legendary clarinetist, Billy Novick in swing jazz trio “Jazz Tapestry”. For more than 30 years, Tomoko has taught many students and led group classes and ensembles at Brookline Music School where she is a current faculty member. She has also taught at Suzuki Institute of Boston where she received Suzuki teacher training from Donald Becker.
