Music Mondays Presents: Aryaloka String Quartet

Beth Welty received her Bachelor and Master’s degrees in violin performance from Indiana
University, where she was a student of Yuval Yaron. She has performed with numerous groups in
the Boston area, including the Boston Classical Orchestra, the Handel and Haydn Society, and
the Pro Arte Chamber Orchestra. Ms. Welty is the assistant principal second violinist with the
Springfield (MA) Symphony Orchestra, and serves as concertmaster of both the Nashua
Chamber Orchestra and the Waltham Symphony Orchestra.
Mark Latham studied violin at the Guildhall School (London), and the University of Michigan,
where he earned his Doctorate in Orchestral Conducting. He was a member of the Atlantic String
Quartet for 6 years, in Canada, and played with Emmanuel Music in Boston, and with the New
Hampshire, Delaware and New Haven Symphonies. He has given numerous world premieres and
his own works have been performed in Canada, the UK and the US. He is Music Director of the
New Hampshire Philharmonic and the Wellesley Symphony and is on the faculty at the
University of Massachusetts, Lowell. He serves as chair of the string department at the
Manchester Community Music School.
Noralee Walker was born in Boston. A graduate of Wellesley College, she holds a Master of
Music Degree in Viola Performance from the Yale School of Music and a Performer’s Certificate
from the former HARID Conservatory of Music (now Lynn University in Boca Raton, FL). She
performs with a variety of ensembles, including the Bach, Beethoven, and Brahms Society of
Boston, Boston Modern Orchestra Project, New England String Ensemble, Springfield
Symphony Orchestra, and the Vermont Symphony Orchestra. She serves as chair of the string
department at the Winchester Community Music School.
Sandi-Jo Malmon made her Lincoln Center debut in 1991 with the Boston Quartet. She is a
long-time member of the Opera Saratoga orchestra and has performed world premieres of operas
as well as from the Western canon. She is a founding member of the Kaleidoscope Chambers
Ensemble. Sandi-Jo received degrees from the Oberlin Conservatory, the New England
Conservatory and the Longy School. She was a student of Richard Kapuscinski, Paul Tobias,
Eugene Lehner and Robert Koff.Ms. Malmon has recorded for numerous documentaries
including The String Theory, a NOVA program on PBS. She can be heard on Blue Hill, North
Star and Lakewest Records as well as Pamet River Recordings. She serves as the Librarian for
Collection Development at the Loeb Music Library at Harvard University.
