BOSTON MOBSTERS – A lecture with Robin Shelgren

BOSTON MOBSTERS – A lecture with Robin Shelgren

TUESDAY, OCTOBER 7TH AT 11:00AM in the NORDIC HALL

This lecture and discussion session will delve into the sordid history of the Mob in Boston.  The presentation will focus mainly on the 1960s, a time when mobsters ran the streets of the Boston area.  Locals were leery of patronizing businesses like movie theaters, restaurants and bars due to the violent action among rival groups. At the time the Angiulo Family controlled the North End, the McLaughlins ran Charlestown and the Winter Hill gang had their grip on the  Somerville area. Each was trying to gain more control and mayhem ensued. It was the Irish versus the Irish versus the Italians. Join us as we discuss Boston’s turbulent gang war history and the men who rose to power as a result.
