Cultural Coordinator
Job Description
The Scandinavian Charitable Society of Greater Boston has defined two distinct yet complementary components as its mission. The Society is committed to providing affordable housing and assistance to elders while supporting cultural enrichment and community connections through the Scandinavian Living Center.
Position
The Scandinavian Charitable Society of Greater Boston seeks a creative and outgoing Cultural Coordinator to develop and implement stimulating exhibits, performances, lectures and other programming focused on sharing the historic and contemporary Scandinavian culture with the Scandinavian-American community and others in the Greater Boston area.
Duties will include:
• Identify, promote and manage quality cultural programming, such as lectures, visual and performing arts, and children’s programs.
• Prepare and maintain a detailed monthly cultural plan and calendar.
• Forge alliances with a broad range of community partners to develop programs.
• Schedule and manage the use of Scandinavian Living Center common areas.
Professional Qualifications:
• A minimum of five years of direct or related experience in program development and event planning;
• Strong understanding and appreciation for the visual and performing arts;
• Demonstrated knowledge of and experience in Scandinavian culture preferred;
• Strong verbal, written and interpersonal skills;
• A well-organized individual with the ability to work independently and as a team player;
• Proficiency with MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

Part-time Cook and Server
At the Scandinavian Living Center, we are currently looking to hire an experienced cook and personable server. This part-time job requires evening hours and weekend hours.
We are looking for someone with:
• Cooking skills and ability to assist with serving the elderly
• Ability to respond to residents’ needs
• Able to cook for a variety of diets
• Customer service and steam spirit is essential
